Education
I am a certified graduate teacher holding a bachelor's degree in science with education from Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Uganda. I did Physics and Mathematics but majored in the latter since I have a more profound passion in Mathematics. I have always loved and excelled in Mathematics since my childhood. I have also undergone online training in both teaching and examining/moderating IB Mathematics, IGCSE Physics and Mathematics.
Experience
My long experience is drawn from key assignments as a mathematics teacher and private tutor (IB Mathematics standard level and mathematics higher level & IGCSE mathematics). I have taught at Aga khan high school, Kampala, Kampala International School, Uganda as a Substitute teacher of both IB and IGCSE mathematics, and International School of Benghazi, Libya as a Science and Mathematics teacher. I have taught at Casablanca American School (Upper School and IB Math teacher), from August 2019 to June 2021. I have worked at International school of Tanganyika (IST) in Dar es Salaam from November 2021to March 2024. At IST, I taught IBDP Math: AASL, AISL, AAHL as well as IBMYP Math ( grade 8 and 9) I have been an examiner for Mathematics HL Paper 1 and Internal assessment, with the I B O, since 2013. I am currently an Examiner for Math SL, Approaches and Analysis Paper 1 and Internal Assessment. I am also Assessment Specialist for Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) for IGCSE Mathematics and Physics, fully endorsed in the year 2016. Executing those roles almost impeccably dwells much on my hard working, high self-motivation, and calmness while working under pressure, moreover with little supervision. I have always found the teaching of mathematics intriguing and fascinating at the same time since the I G C S E and I B courses focus on developing important mathematical concepts in a comprehensive, coherent and rigorous way. I have always used a balanced approach to achieve this and encouraged my students to apply their mathematical knowledge to solve problems in a variety of meaningful contexts. Tutoring has always been part of me in the teaching profession. I have tutored a number of students both from schools where I have taught and those who needed homeschooling. I like to be a tutor because I meet students closer and interact more freely than when they are in class. The students get to study at their own pace and in a completely less stern environment. I get to determine my teaching rates that are not taxed, and I get plenty of time to do my private work which is quite difficult when I am teaching at school. I befriend both my students and parents better when I do tutoring; some parents have even treated me as part of their families, and consulted me on things beyond just tutoring their kids. I have tutored students of various grades in both IGCSE mathematics and physics and IB MYP and IBDP Mathematics: Grade 7-Grade 13.
